From May - September River Street Candy Kitchen must implement a warm weather shipping policy in order to guarantee that our chocolates and other temperature sensitive items arrive at your door in the best condition possible. This policy will automatically apply a $6 service fee at checkout to orders that require it. Please follow the guidelines listed below, and do not hesitate to call 1-844-868-6577 if you're unsure about anything.

*****Please notify your recipients of a pending package arrival. UPS may leave packages if no one is available to receive them, regardless of weather or heat. 

Coolers and Cold Packs – Orders containing chocolate will be packaged in coolers with cold packs or dry ice. This special packaging guarantees the quality of the candy for up to 2 days and will gradually defrost during transit.

Monday through Thursday shipping - During the Warm Weather, we ship Monday - Thursday only, to keep your packages from sitting with UPS over the weekend. Where possible, please make sure that someone is available to receive the package and take it to an air conditioned area. UPS will leave a package on your porch if no one is home, however River Street Candy Kitchen cannot be held responsible for melting when packages are left in this manner.

To avoid weekend transit time, Orders may be delayed and shipped fresh on the following Monday.

Military addresses, PO Boxes, Alaska, and Hawaii cannot be upgraded to express. We suggest shipping more temperature stable items Such as our Pralines, Glazed Pecans and Brittles during the summer for these address types. Please call if you would like assistance with choosing items. We want your gifts to arrive in perfect condition, and are happy to help.

THURSDAY shipments – Next Business Day Express should be selected on all orders containing Chocolates or Cakes if they are being shipped on Thursday (ordered on Wednesday) so that they do not sit with UPS over the weekend.

Layer Cakes, Pound Cakes, Pies, and Caramel Apples cannot be shipped to military (overseas) address, Alaska, Hawaii, or to P O boxes. We will require a continental US physical address. When the temperatures in our area exceed a certain threshold, our layer cakes, cheesecakes, iced cake samplers, and Apples, will require an express upgrade for an additional charge. During the rest of the year, these items ship via an Express upgrade as needed for the destination, and may arrive separately from the rest of your order. Layer cakes and pies ship inside a specially made shipping cooler with dry ice. Please follow the unpacking instructions provided with these deliveries for proper handling. We do not allow Perishable items to be in transit over a weekend so please select a ship date that falls Monday – Thursday or we may need to ship the following Monday. Thursday ship dates will require Next Day Air for delivery on Friday year round.

If we feel that your order needs to be upgraded or the ship date adjusted to ensure quality arrival we will make every attempt to contact you before making the change. Please be sure to include up-to-date contact information with your order to avoid delays while we attempt to contact you.
